Yesterday was such a special day for me. I photographed the third wedding for this wonderful family, having photographed both of the bride’s sisters’ weddings a few years back. Staying a part of my clients’ lives and meeting their little ones is such a special perk of my job. Congrats J&S! I adore you both and was thrilled to be a part of your day! @jenhutch99
My heart continues to ache for the whole Santa Barbara and Montecito community. I heard this morning that the magical @sanysidroranch has devastating damage. But even more tragic are the fatalities and missing persons. Sending so much love to all those impacted by this. #santabarbara#montecito#heartbroken
Potential clients often ask me, “What is your photographic style?” I always find this question slightly difficult to answer, as I think it’s not always easy to characterize a visual style into a few adjectives. But I was editing this image from a recent session and love so many things about it that I think it really does characterize what I try to achieve in my images.
The way she is looking at him. The way he is listening to her, and something she has said made him genuinely smile. The way her hand curls around his neck and how she leans into him. I don’t pose my clients. I try to create an environment where they engage and connect as they do every day. They way THEY always snuggle in or hold each other is so much more honest and compelling than a pose I might create.
My photographic style aims to capture my clients as they are - who they are, how they touch and kiss and laugh and love. That is my “why” and I suppose that is my style :).
