Love is life, and life is living. Fuckin' awesome.
Almost 3 years living abroad, squeezing my life into a suitcase and leaving my native place was the best decision that I could have possibly made, when you move away, when you turn your life into a journey filled with uncertainty, you grow up in a unexpected ways.
You change, living abroad is a trip that will profoundly change your life and who you are. It will shake up your roots, your certainties and your fears.
You learn, you unlearn, you feel home sick, and you shape memories that will stay with you forever.
Adrenalin becomes part of your life, it turns into a powerful mix of emotions, learning, improving, dealing with the unexpected, all your senses sharpen up, new places, new habits, new challenges, new people.
Suddenly you're free, you've always been free, but freedom feels different now. Now that you have given up every comfort and made it work thousands miles away from home, you feel like you're capable of anything.
Walking streets alone and eating dinner at tables for one, you're left alone for hours, days on end with nothing but your own thoughts. You start talking to yourself, asking yourself questions and answering them, and taking in the day's activities with slowness and an appreciation that you've never before even attempted. Having to start from zero and rebuild everything, having to relearn how to live and carry out every day activities like a child fundamentally alters you.
You learn how to say goodbye and enjoy yourself, most things n people in your life are just passing through, and you instinctly play down the importance of most situations. You also get to know yourself better, because you discover that some things you really believe in, while others are just a cultural heritage of the society you grew up in.
Time is measured in tiny little moments, celebrations you won't be able to go, Skype call with your friends and family, birthdays you missed, people who left without you getting the chance to say goodbye one last time.
You miss those little things you never you'd miss, and you'd give anything to go back to that place, even if it were just for an instant.
Home is where the ❤️ is.
