It’s all happening! This amazing person that I have the honor of calling not only my niece but also my God-daughter is doing what she does best....the most selfless act....today it’s by saving her Momma’s life; she’s giving her momma the best chances that this cancer won’t come back.
The last few days, Darlene has had to go thru extensive blood work, twice daily injections that gave her some very very uncomfortable side effects and now here she is with a smile on her face excited to donate the bone marrow that her momma needs.
My sister had 2 previous anonymous donors...1 backed out and the other didn’t have a matching antibody, so they were no longer viable. As disheartening as it was to lose them both, we all stood positive and we now realize that it was always meant to be for her donor to be her own daughter. ❤️ This is just the beginning...tomorrow is the actual transplant and then Laura has at least a year of recovery. She will have to pretty much live in a bubble. But we’re ready for it.
I had plans of being at the hospital tomorrow during the transplant but I have to bow out because both my kiddos are sick with this yucky flu...the sniffles can be deadly to Laura after tomorrow, so please send your well wishes from a distance (phone/social media/text) if you or anyone you’ve been in contact with is sick.
Thank you to those who continue to pray, send well wishes, visit, call, text, send gifts, cards, snacks.....it has not gone unnoticed and we will forever be grateful to you all. They say you never know who the real people are in your life until you are sick, poor and/or have nothing to offer anyone. And we’ve been amazed with the amount of love and support for my sister and her kids.
Thank you Thank you Thank you! ❤️😊👍🏽🙏🏽👭💉 #bestdaughterawardgoesto#myneeners#darlenemarie#bonemarrowdonor#prayerswelcomedandappreciated#positivevibes#leukemiasucks#leukemiaawareness#beadonorsavealife
Hey boo, don’t forget - you are worthy. you are capable. you are strong ✨ These three mantras have been my rock the last few weeks. 2018 holds a lot of unknowns for me as I graduate from college in May and if you’re a planner like me, you know how tough that can be. •••
As I dive into the job search I’ve been recognizing irrational insecurities, anxiety and worry surfacing, but by focusing on these three simple phrases, taking more time on my yoga mat and cracking my journal open every day, I’ve been able to quiet those negative thoughts 💛 I’ve been able to remind myself of all of the hard work I’ve put in to get myself where I am today and all of the strength that I have within me. And I’ve been able to accept that the universe will lead me on the right path, at the right time ✨
So as you go into this day remember - you are worthy of miracles and amazing opportunities. you are capable of so much more than you can even imagine. you are strong both mentally and physically ✨
