Feeling the resistance?
It was a beautiful morning after the strange skies of yesterday and I (eventually, only an hour later than planned) dragged myself out of bed for my first run since Ragnar. It felt like I'd left it so long I'd inevitably have lost all my fitness and be starting again. And so I'd put it off for waaayyyyy longer than I should have done.
The reality was that my quads were a bit tight but otherwise I was fine and kept a reasonable pace throughout despite the stronger-than-it-first-felt wind.
I'm someone who kinda likes running against the wind or uphill. The difficulty and the challenge makes it feel more worthwhile somehow. And then when I turn back and go with the flow, so to speak, it feels too easy and my brain starts whirring out of control.
There's an art to doing something when it feels easy. It's like a meditation for me; sticking with the process while my brain is saying "go harder, go faster". And I do that in all areas of my life. If it's too easy I like to mess with the status quo, which means I never fulfill my potential.
So enough is enough
Time to go with the flow methinks. 🤘💪🏃💕

WHAT A DAY...
Firstly I haven't got enough words for @burgessking1.... he knew I was struggling mentally with long runs and agreed to join me on a long run... He drove all the way to Richmond at stupid o clock to run 18miles (20 for him) along the Thames path. he kept me motivated and kept me going the whole way even though I was moaning.. ( I'm so sorry). I have struggled with long runs since I tore my achilies and have nightmares and panic a lot after certain miles (10,13,15) and can never get past 16.. the same happened today but he stayed by myside the whole time and kept me strong even when he pb'd last weekend. The kindness of that run will stay with me forever, and make me cry a lot..
Just as I needed it the most ( and probably tom too) Lizzie and Elisa showed up to run the last couple of miles with me.. I needed that and I needed you. once again they travelled hours to come to Richmond to run with me after having also ran a marathon and half. stayed with me cheered me on and made me forget the pain. Thank you @lillybet.runs.alot
and @gilmoregirlruns .
At 18miles @burgessking1 produced a medal to give to me for my longest long run.. HE GAVE ME A MEDAL??? after everything he did.
after a lot of deer antics ( 😂😂) we were joined by the beauties of @_nix26.2 and @betsyboo84 and have the most wonderful chat.
Also Elisa gave me a gym present.. that will feature more on my gym diaries .
memories of today and the incredibleness of today would not have happened without @barbertronruns who persuaded me to go to Ragnar, I wore that tshirt for you.. you created this movement. I will never forget our long run and this one. thank you Lovely.
To top it all off the beautiful @stevie83uk after everything asked me how my long run was. a girl that doesn't like running remembered. you know why your special and thinking of others when she needs the love the most.
Thank you.... all of you have no idea what this meant!! #togetherstronger#thisgirlcanrun#thisboycanrun#longrun#sundaylongrun#richmondpark#thamespath#thamespathrunning#londonmarathon#vlm2018#fitness#goals#richmondpark#friendship#ragnaruk#womensrunninguk#yourruns#londonrunning
The #fitbit is back and I'm interested to see my stats over the coming months - particularly my sleep and heart rate recovery when really pushing my runs.

When I joined Instagram I certainly didn't expect that sharing a few pictures would result in me finding my tribe. ❤
I joined to share some random pictures and then Feb 2017 I started sharing my runs. Out of that I stumbled across this whole community of runners doing the same & all being each other's cheer squad. I was hooked.
Then 3 weeks later my world got turned upside down. My brother died. Suddenly this community became invaluable and I found myself surrounded by people, who didn't know me, but offered me love and support and shared all my highs and lows.
Ragnar then came along and I jumped at the chance and spent one of the most amazing weekends of my life with those very same incredible people who rallied around me months before and also made some new friends. Each one of them inspiring, kind and supportive.
It's taken me well over a week to process that weekend, could be down to the lack of sleep (40hrs awake 😵), just because it was more impressive than I could imagine or because I was overwhelmed by it all.
What I do know is that I have definitely found my tribe and I couldn't be more grateful for being so lucky. So much love for all of you ❤
