Rio has such a crazy landscape! There are beautiful beaches on the coast and lively rainforests up in the mountains with a bustling city smack dab in the middle. This photo was taken in the Tijuca Rainforest just 45 minutes away from the city center. I believe it's a Tufted Capuchin (please correct me if I'm wrong). There was a big group of them playing in the trees and they were curious with us. It was really cool how similar to humans they were acting. 🙉
A Roadside hawk stretches out a leg as it perches alone the Rio Frio near the Nicaraguan border. Roadside hawks are small buteos that range from Mexico to Argentina. As their name suggests, they hunt along roads and other open areas for reptiles, large insects, and small mammals on which they feed.
