When waking up in the morning is impossible. You embrace it, let the body rest and kill it when your body allows. Working out is a celebration of what your body is capable of and should never be used as a punishment. You deserve only the best ♥️ Happy Diwali My Gorgeous Friends 🎉
What have I learnt from the Manchester Half?Mainly, that I am a knob (I already knew that but it's good to have it clarified!).
When I set myself my #12halfsin12months challenge,it was never the plan to fit six 13+ mile events into nine weeks.Especially when those nine weeks feature me broken at work doing all the hours. But that's the way it is,so as I started this stretch of events I told myself that my sole aim with all these runs was just to finish.
Yesterday,I forgot that.....I also forgot that rolling off an overnight coach straight to a start line and knocking out a half marathon is an achievement.I forgot that although I have been working hard to keep up a certain level of fitness,I have not been able to train adequately for all these halfs in a short space of time.I forgot that stopping every five minutes to cough my lungs up was going to affect my overall race.I forgot that being tired affected your mental strength as well as your physical strength.I forgot that it's when you're tired and run down that your negativity is strongest and roars at you that you're rubbish for 12 miles.I forgot that running makes no sense.I forgot that not giving up when everything in you is screaming to is what it's about.
All I could think the whole way round was YOU ARE CRAP.At 2 miles I actually walked over to the side ready to pull out.But then I womaned up and thought of all my amazing friends and all the stupendous things they've done in recent months, and I kept going.
This medal is weirdly the one I'm proudest of.After all your lovely words I think the fact I finished is pretty great.I have never had to dig so deep before in a race.Running does not come easily.I struggle with it and I will never be fast - but I keep going.I go out and run races when it would be much easier to stay in bed.Because I am determined and I want to show myself that I can do it.
So that is what this medal is for.Thank you again for all being so so supportive and kind - thank you x
