We became more than a class, a group of people together sharing common interest. In two weeks we became a family :) sharing a celebratory meal together before our demo night 💻🇷🇼✌🏽
This weeks #WCW is a throwback to 1906 featuring one of the first programmers in the history of computers, Grace Hopper. Hopper is best known for her trailblazing contributions to the development of computer languages with the highly influential belief that programming languages should be as easily understood as English. She believed that “we’ve always done it that way” was not necessarily a good reason to continue to do so and henceforth left behind a strong legacy of innovation in the computing world 🌎 💻 #WomenInTech#WomenInDigital#DigitalBrisbane

create all sorts of magic. Serious magic that is soul activating. ✨
This space is playful and limitless. I’ve been able to learn and grow so much from almost accidentally starting something online. I had no intentions but I loved the freedom and how I could gift the knowledge I gained to my home town. That was huge and what made my heart sing. Being at service to the community who raised and inspired me. I will never forget that feeling of my first sale online. Completely freeing and liberating that a space like this could bring pure abundance and freedom of each and everyday. More importantly; a community! A community that pushing the limits of what we are taught is the ‘successful’ way to ‘life’. We are shape shifter. We push the limits. We own our own time. We create a lifestyle that is beyond norm; because why not. Our soul is calling for it. Our heart wants more to life than waking up each day on repeat.
I’ve been interviewing a lot of interesting #womenintech for @shenomads , but I haven’t answered my own questions... so here goes nothing.
1. What do you do?
I’m a software engineer at a Bay Area tech company, and the founder of SheNomads.
2. What is your favorite place to travel to? Matosinhos. The people, the food, the beach... it’s got the best vibe and is incredibly relaxing.
3. What is your favorite thing to do there? It’s a tie between sitting on the giant rocks by the water, and running in the park.
4. One piece of career advice you wish you would have had 5 years ago? Find community. There are lots of people like you in this industry that care about making it better for everybody.
5. One piece of travel advice you wish you would have had 5 years ago? Plan more solo travel.
What about you????

When you are busy but still need to look good. Thank you @hollylhoward for making magic happen ✨
When I look back through my past “failures and successes,” I can see a pattern like the swaying of a pendulum. The momentum of one swing in a direction I didn’t want to go provided the very wind up I needed to get to the other side. -
Some people prefer to avoid risk, but I have found that the more pain you endure, the more success you have, as well (So long as you harness any negative energy to propel you towards your goals). -
As with the pendulum effect, if I didn't get fired from my first startup, I wouldn't have landed the opportunity to travel all over the world and help young women create a better life for themselves. At the time, the pain was consuming. I felt a sense of failure - especially since I worked so hard, tried to do everything “right,” and accommodated the team as needed. Now I realize that I never would have fit in there because I was working in a "job" with an entrepreneur mindset. My mindset and their expectations clashed. When I found more success doing my own thing, I realized that being fired was just what I had needed. I never would have quit because I had fully committed, but companies that don’t appreciate the entrepreneur mindset are held back from the type of growth I could have helped them achieve.
Even in relationships - I noticed that the worst relationships and break-ups resulted in bigger successes for me. My main goal in life was to be strong and independent. Every breakup taught me something that got me closer to my goal without me even trying.
No one wants to go through the pain, but the bigger the setback, the bigger the potential for success. 🥂

Enjoying this holiday like: relaxing 😌 enjoying a good book in a jacuzzi 💕 after running some errands, and workout 💪🏼 lets make holidays productive days! 🎉 btw, the book is Tribe of Mentors by @timferriss .
@wearedriverse Two black women have created the Glassdoor for people of colour. Driverse will be the first platform of it's kind which will allow people of color to search for and review companies based on ethnic diversity and inclusion factors.
Adesuwa E Ajayi and Clara R Germain seek to break the mould by providing a space for their users to anonymously share their experiences within the workplace and also seek advice on workplace related issues.
Upon launching they wrote, "We also feel as though ethnic diversity is just as important as other aspects of the diversity and inclusion agenda considering the fact that many poc employees are multi-dimensional and shouldn't feel they have to pick one issue over another." ⠀
Instances of racism within the workplace as well as other forms of discrimination are often discussed privately amongst each other, in safe-spaces or on social media pages that provide some level of anonymity, Driverse will be the first space to bring all these reviews together. They are currently accepting sign ups for pre-launch reviews, more information can be found on their page.

My mission in life 😂the other day the weather was so cold on site! This one older gentleman came to deliver beams. As soon as he saw me he's like "what are you doing out here! This is no place for a woman! It's cold!" I said "it's cold for everyone!!" 😂
